Coruña British International School will open its new campus in Culleredo in 2026, the most modern and avant-garde British school in A Coruña.

Coruña British International School continues to make progress on its ambitious new campus project, which will open its doors in Sésamo (Culleredo) in September 2026. With a total built area of 14,846 m² on a plot of 38,698 m², the new educational complex will become the most modern and avant-garde British school in A Coruña, offering a unique proposal for all stages of education, from Early Years to Sixth Form (3 to 18 years old).

The school thus begins its final academic year at the A Zapateira campus, with work on the new campus progressing at a good pace. The foundation work, the structure of the sports centre and part of the prefabricated metal structure of the main building have already been completed, while progress is being made on masonry, asphalting and improvements to the accesses. The project includes a set of U-shaped buildings around a large central atrium, creating spacious, bright and functional spaces designed to encourage interaction between stages and active learning.

The campus will have flexible classrooms adapted to the needs of each stage, integrating collaborative work areas, laboratories, workshops and a STEAM area that will bring together science, art, music and technology. It will also have a gym and a 1,412 m² sports centre, connected to the main building by a covered corridor, as well as outdoor spaces for sports.

The Early Years classrooms will have their own playground and experimentation areas, creating an environment that encourages curiosity, play and creativity. In Primary, classrooms will be organised around open, shared spaces, eliminating traditional corridors and promoting practical and experiential learning. In Secondary and Sixth Form, the facilities will be designed to encourage multidisciplinary project work, developing key skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and leadership.

The new campus also maintains a firm commitment to the natural environment. Of the nearly 39,000 m² of land, more than 19,000 m² will be preserved in its original state, integrating school gardens, outdoor learning areas for its exclusive outdoor learning programme, The Journey, and a perimeter path parallel to the river, also open for use by local residents.

With this project, Coruña British International School reinforces its role as a benchmark for British and international education in Galicia and is committed to a model that combines British academic excellence with a global perspective.
