Outdoor Learning at Coruña British International School
At Coruña British International School we provide our students with a unique outdoor learning programme, from the age of three upwards. A unique opportunity to build character, knowledge, skills, competencies and global perspectives as they embark on a personal journey of discovery and challenge.
Outdoor learning fosters the development of inquisitive minds, problem solving in 'real' situations and enhances the development of the whole child, helping them to more easily identify hazards and risks. It also gives them a break from their everyday classroom environment and stimulates their senses, inviting them to learn in a different way.
Outdoor learning is one of the cornerstones of the British education system, effectively enriching students' education while offering numerous advantages and benefits for their holistic development, academically, personally and socially.
The Journey (from Year 2 to Year 8)
At Coruña British International School we have a unique and exclusive programme of self-improvement and self-discovery called "The Journey", from the age of three upwards. Our pupils have a unique opportunity to build their character, knowledge, skills, competencies and global perspectives as they embark on a personal journey of discovery and challenge from Early Years to Secondary. The programme, which is integrated across our curriculum, offers students challenging and enriching activities organised to develop a range of fundamental skills to successfully meet the challenges of the 21st century.
This programme, unique to Globeducate schools, lays the foundation for following the internationally recognised Duke of Edinburgh programme, aimed at students from Year 9 to Year 12.

Duke of Edinburgh International Award (Year 9 - Year 12)
Following on from The Journey, Coruña British International School offers from Year 9 onwards the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh's International Programme, which gives young people the opportunity to discover themselves and overcome their limitations, inviting them to set their own challenges and overcome them. Achievement is recognised at the end of each stage of the programme: bronze, silver and gold.
Coruña British International School thus becomes the only school in A Coruña to offer this enriching programme, which is also highly respected and valued in the field of university applications, as well as by companies and institutions, enhancing such important soft skills as leadership, problem solving, teamwork, solidarity and resilience, among others.
The awards range from Bronze to Gold and culminate in a five-day expedition or residency; a great, exciting and fulfilling experience that will leave participants with a great sense of achievement in their life beyond school.
"I've seen firsthand the transformative power of The Journey's adventurous education programme. Away from screens and devices, our students dive into challenges, immersing themselves in the wonders of nature. Here, they cultivate not just knowledge, but a deep-seated curiosity, resilience, and a passion for exploration that will accompany them throughout life."
