Governance and leadership
Coruña British International School is committed to providing a world-class education, through transparent leadership and a dedication to the development of each individual student.
As part of Globeducate, the school’s Senior Leadership Team supports every member of staff to achieve their goals. Through a rigorous self evaluative approach, each team member strives for self improvement, always putting the students' needs at the centre of what they do. In turn Globeducate’s Directorate of Education works with each school to ensure standards of teaching and learning are being continually challenged in order to achieve the very best for our students.
Our history
Coruña British International School opened its doors in September 2015 as the first British school in A Coruña. We are a sister school of the pioneering O Castro British International School in Vigo, and part of the prestigious Globeducate British International Schools.
Transparency
As a Globeducate British International Schools, we publish our academic results every year, along with graduate statistics and the universities that accepted students from our schools.
Social commitment
At Coruña British International School we are committed to building a caring, supportive and inclusive community, based upon our core values, and encouraging our students to understand the importance of dedicating time and effort to improving, enriching and caring for the world around them.
The school raises money for selected NGOs throughout the year, through events such as our annual book festival and reading marathon. At Christmas, the students take part in concerts at local senior citizen’s centres and organise activities such as food drives, beach clean ups and more. In addition, we take part in sporting events in support of charities, such as the Race against Meningitis, and the A Toda Vela regatta.
Coruña British International School, along with all Globeducate schools, is working towards obtaining the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award for sustainability. Alongside this we organise activities to encourage eco-responsibility among our pupils throughout the year.
Globeducate Platinum Standard: Continuous improvement
All Globeducate schools take part in monitoring and quality improvement activities through a programme called the Platinum Standard. Using best practices from the global world of education, it helps schools to assess the quality of the education they provide. Using a set of quality indicators schools can then outline improvement plans in areas such as quality of teaching, effective leadership and student progress and wellbeing.
